But this application at times behaves strangely when it undergo any updation or any unexpected happens to it.

Let’s consider a scenario where when user tries to download any email message from POP3 server through MS Outlook 2007, it takes much longer time than what is expected. In addition to that when an attempt was made to send e-mail messages using SMTP server of ISP (Internet Service Provider) the connection goes time out and an error 0x800ccc0f is received. The error message thus thrown is quite identical to the message as mentioned below –

"Task ‘Main - Sending and Receiving’ reported error (0x800CCC0F): ‘The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP)’."

The above mentioned error message occurs if a network hardware device such as router, does not supports the TCP Window Scaling. TCP Window Scaling is the new feature in Windows Vista, using which user can increase the size of TCP receive windows above its maximum value i.e. 65,535 bytes.

In order to rectify this issue first determine whether this problem is caused by network hardware device that does not supports TCP Windows Scaling. For this follow the following steps –

  • Click Start >> All Programs >> Accessories.
  • Then right-click on Command Prompt icon and then click Run as Administrator.
  • If it prompts for administrator password for confirmation, then provide it that and click Continue.
  • In the command prompt type below mentioned command and press ENTER. netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
  • Close Command Prompt and restart the computer.

If the problem gets fixed with these setting then it is OK and if doesn’t then any third party software need to be used like PST Repair software which effectively repairs and recovers the Outlook mails and messages including the PST file and resolves the issue instantly.
